For the first time in many years the Grange school has a Head boy and Head Girl. The positions were reintroduced at the school after Year 11 pupils, Barnaby and Matthew O’Carroll, presented Head of School, Barry Carney with their proposal. Both boys thought it was the right time for the prestigious roles to be reinstated. They felt that the ethos within the school was changing and that a Head Boy and Head Girl could play an ambassadorial role for the school as well as being a model for all students.
All Year 11 students and members of staff voted, having watch promotional videos put together by Barnaby Byrom, Luke Turner, Craig Goulder , Lauren Peate, Tessa McMillan and Hollie Bousfield. In the end Barnaby and Hollie were the successful candidates.

Mr Carney said “I am very pleased to have a Head Boy and Head Girl to work with. It is even more pleasing that the students suggested the reinstatement of the role themselves. Hollie and Barnaby have already carried out duties at the annual award ceremony last week, giving the opening speech and welcoming guests. They were also in school on Saturday morning helping with a Bright Sparks event put on for Y5 and Y6 students.”
Their term of office is until next Easter when they will hand over the role to two Year 10 students so that they can focus on studying for their GCSE examinations.
