Mrs Newby, the Junior School Cook, has worked in the Junior kitchen for the past ten years. Mrs Newby and her team provide excellent meals for the pupils. They operate a cafeteria style kitchen, where pupils who opt for a school lunch, pay on the day. Pupils bring their lunch money to school on a daily basis (current cost being £2.00 per day).
The Junior School follows Halton Borough Council’s Healthy School Meals Menu which is updated every term.
The pupils look forward to the ‘Themed Lunch Days’ which tie in with our curriculum topics e.g. 'Seaside', 'Royal Wedding Lunch' or 'The Banquet'.
Mrs Newby is the Halton Borough Council’s training cook who provides training for all of the new cooks in the authority.
The children are also able to take advantage of the ‘Healthy Tuck’ which is served at morning break (10.30 – 10.45am) each day. They have a choice of whole meal toast, a piece of fruit or a milkshake.
We have a team of seven Midday Assistants at the Junior School who are on duty from 12.00-12.45pm each day. They help and care for the pupils in the dining hall and playgrounds. They are all Emergency First Aid trained and can deal with any minor injuries that may occur during the lunchtime.
